The Greek Airsoft community is always looking for the next level of simulation, and Aerosfairisi.Gr is here to present a new and highly promising initiative. We spoke with “Cerv” from the organizing team of Dara Horizon, an independent and rapidly growing Mil-Sim event in the Czech Republic, which promises absolute realism, psychological pressure, and hardcore roleplay (LARP).
Forget everything you knew about standard airsoft games. Dara Horizon is here to change the rules.
Dara Horizon: The Independent Czech Milsim That Replaces Mountains with… Total Sleep Deprivation The Czech airsoft scene is globally renowned for its high standards of realism. However, when most people hear about large-scale Milsim events in the Czech Republic, their minds instantly go to well-established, mass-participation franchises. It’s time to change that perspective. In an exclusive interview with “Cerv”, a representative of the Dara Horizon organizing team, a very important detail was cleared up right away: this is a completely independent, fresh, and incredibly hardcore production under a completely different founder. Dara Horizon introduces the European community to the raw asymmetry of modern conflict, deploying players straight into the heart of the Kunar province and the blood-stained Korengal Valley (Afghanistan, 2009 setting). Here is the full conversation and the revealing answers the organizers provided to Aerosfairisi.Gr, along with the official operational schedule for 2026:
Why did you choose the Korengal Valley area as the thematic base for the event?
The Korengal Valley is one of the most famous areas of operation in Afghanistan, deeply connected to historical events like Operation Red Wings and the presence of the Korengal Outpost. The game is strongly inspired by the realities of that era and the operational conditions faced by the forces deployed there, which is exactly why it was chosen as our thematic foundation.
How strict is the ruleset and the Rules of Engagement (ROE)?
We like to say about ourselves that “we are not bad, but we are consistent.” The rules are sent out to the players one month before the event, and this is preceded by a meet & greet with the organizers to resolve any questions. There is a balanced combination of strict rules (mostly regarding organizational discipline) and more flexible gameplay mechanics, allowing players the freedom to make tactical choices.
Can the field in the Czech Republic realistically depict the Korengal Valley?
To be completely honest: the terrain in the Czech Republic is limited and cannot fully replicate a real mountainous valley. The field spans roughly 1×2 km and is relatively flat. To compensate for this, we increase the difficulty through gameplay design: ISAF forces operate almost continuously without true rest, making fatigue and sleep deprivation the direct substitutes for rugged terrain.
How critical are the Rules of Engagement (ROE)?
The ROE are among the most critical components of the game. They are based on real-world conditions and generate heavy psychological pressure on players, forcing them to think before pulling the trigger. Interaction with civilians is central to the gameplay, as they serve as a core factor for gathering intelligence and driving the storyline forward. Violating the ROE does not lead to an out-of-game “court-martial,” but rather to strict in-game penalties and chores (e.g., cleaning equipment, mandatory physical tasks), ensuring that every action carries a real consequence.
What should a new player know before participating?
The 3 absolute “must-haves” and preparations are: Communications (RTO): A reliable radio, proper protocol organization, and proficiency in English are mandatory. Physical & Psychological Endurance: The event lasts between 50 to 64 hours, bringing severe fatigue and sleep deprivation. Basic Milsim Knowledge: Proficiency in MGRS coordinates, ROE, SOPs, positive target identification, land navigation, and a general understanding of military procedures.
What is the core concept behind the Dara Horizon campaign?
Dara Horizon is not a standalone event but a continuous, evolving storyline. There is no point score or definitive winner. The experience unfolds in “rotations,” mirroring actual military deployments (Dara I, II, III, etc.). Every single event directly impacts the subsequent phase of the overall campaign.
How does the asymmetry between ISAF and the insurgents work?
The game thrives on complete asymmetry. ISAF maintains distinct technological superiority and full gear availability, whereas the insurgents face heavy restrictions (for instance, they do not possess drones or thermal imaging at the start). These capabilities must be progressively earned within the game, accurately reflecting the real-world evolution of an asymmetric conflict. Furthermore, pyrotechnics like IEDs and specialized effects are heavily integrated to deliver a much more realistic experience.
What is the scenario for Dara Horizon I?
ISAF forces take command of FOB Blessing with the primary objective of stabilizing the region and conducting planned operations. Success is not measured solely by military action, but heavily by the relationship built with the local population. The villagers can be friendly, neutral, or hostile, making your interactions with them absolutely critical to the outcome of the mission. Final Statement from the Organization Dara Horizon I marks the beginning of a massive campaign. “Welcome to the first ISAF rotation to FOB Blessing. Your mission is to maintain control over the area, promote ISAF interests, and lay down the foundations for the next phase of the operation. “Conclusion: An Event That Teaches True Military Mindset
Dara Horizon proves that a successful Milsim is not judged by whether your field features real 3,000-meter mountains, but by how intelligently the game mechanics force pressure onto the player. When physical exhaustion, realistic military punishments (like camp chores or push-ups), and deep cultural civilian LARP intertwine, the result is an unforgettable, raw experience.
For Greek operators looking to push their absolute limits in Europe far beyond the ordinary, the challenge of the Korengal Valley in the Czech Republic awaits. Official Event Website & Registrations: darahorizon.cz
